Laurie Veloz was born in the Dominican Republic. She migrated to Washington, DC, as a child with her family. She is an advocate for the DC Latino Immigrant community. She has a passion for helping others.

Laurie studied at the University of the District of Columbia where she received her Bachelor's degree.
